Jan Roebuck
Jan was born in England and came to Australia as a child of ten so is very much an Australian. She began her artistic career in the 70’s making stoneware and porcelain ceramics. She continued for many years until lack of space meant no kiln! During this time she attended many workshops and learnt a lot about design in general.
Jan started to learn Silver Jewellery and Glass Lampworking in 2004 and feels the two go extremely well together, She likes making glass beads that can be incorporated with silver and natural gemstones. Jan gets as much thrill and excitement when removing cooled beads from her kiln and seeing their true colours, as she did in the days when she was opening her stoneware kiln.
Jan, now retired, lives on the Sunshine Coast near Caloundra and spends as much time as possible making glass beads, learning new and exciting things every day quite often from an original experiment or mistake! No two beads are ever the same, which contributes to the vitality and freshness of her unique hand made jewellery.
