Laurelle Lomath

Laurelle has recently moved back to her hometown of Wanganui, New Zealand, after having spent the last 24 years in Brisbane. Wanganui is the glass capital of NZ, where they do everything from blowing  to casting, fusing, slumping and pate de verre. She is excited about doing other techniques in glass, and is at present teaching lampworking.

While in Brisbane, Laurelle took part in a workshop in glass beadmaking and was soon addicted to glass. This was a change of direction, having spent approx 30 years in textiles.

Laurelle has participated in numerous workshops in Australia.

“I find the colours, reactions and fluidity of the glass exciting. You never stop learning while working with glass, and torchwork is particularly fascinating to me”, says Laurelle.

Laurelle hopes to do more sculptural work in the future.
