Marianne Kerby
Marianne loves working with her hands. A keen interest in jewellery-making led to 15 years of gold- and silversmithing. Her explorations in combining metal and colour culminated in the discovery that she could make her own colourful beads from hot glass. That was in 1999, since then Marianne has worked almost exclusively in glass.
Much of Marianne's work is very organic and free-flowing. Her favourite source of inspiration is the richly decorated Baroque textiles with their elaborate floral patterns. Similar rich colours and extravagant botanicals are frequently seen in Marianne?s beads. To achieve the colours she wants Marianne often hand-mixes her glass. The result is limited edition beads which are rarely replicated.
