Sarah Murphy

Sarah's journey with glass began after the birth of her second child in 1997. She took a class in fusing and slumping and immediately went out and purchased her first little kiln. Through trial and error and the occasional work shop she played with many different techniques including casting and fused jewellery.
It was in 2003 that Sarah embarked on another workshop - in glass bead making. This class was with Peter Minson, here she learned all the basics of bead making which are paramount in allowing further self development in the art of beads.
It was then that she realised the true meaning of the word 'Obsession'! Barely a day passes where Sarah doesn't venture in to her custom built studio to 'play'.
Over the past few years Sarah has taken several more workshops in flame work to pick up new techniques and to further develop her own unique style of bead making. One of which was in the United States with Roccio Bearer of R4 Studio.
Sarah's work is sold through local Markets and Galleries. She is currently involved in the teaching program at The Canberra Glassworks.
"I love looking at the world around me for interesting objects and wondering how I can apply the idea to my glass beads".
"I LIVE WHAT I DO, I DO WHAT I LOVE"
