Susan Clarkson

Susan’s life has always had art in it somewhere .. her mother is a painter and printmaker, her father (a dentist by profession) has dabbled in painting and sculpture.
Susan’s ventures into artistic expression started when her art teacher at Teachers Training college (she was going to be a Special Ed Teacher) gave her some batik materials to take home and play with. Susan was hooked and quit teaching. She has since dabbled in silk painting, hand-painted manchester and recycled clothing, ceramics, silversmithing and beading.
Frustrated by being unable to find beads locally that she could afford to put in her jewellery made her look at the possibility of making them herself. Susan had heard of classes at McGregor Summer School in beadmaking, she hadn't even heard of lampworking until she enrolled for the course. Susan began to look at websites, saw the possibilities and became very excited. The course she subsequently attended was everything she had hoped for and more.
Apart from her artistic endeavours, Susan is a home educating mother of two girls. She loves good food, gardening, walking, animals and being with her dear friends and family as well as a menagerie which includes dogs, horses, rats, chickens, a magpie, a baby bearded dragon and Siamese fighting fish!!
Susan began her glass journey in January 2006 and believes she has truly found an artistic field that feeds her soul.
“I have found a medium which challenges and excites me more than anything I have tried before, the possibilities seem endless! I hope my artworks bring a little sunshine into your life, as they do mine”, says Susan.
