Terri Smith

From an early age Terri has had a talent for the arts. She is inspired by the beautiful forms and colours found in the natural world ......... stunning form and colour observed in flowers, incredible shell shapes, the magnificence of the ocean, and the amazing range of creatures who inhabit the terrestrial and marine environments.
Her natural curiosity stimulates her need for experimentation, particularly in a creative arena. Terri’s interests include stitchery, works on paper and music, however her fascination with (and subsequent addiction to ) glass relates more to her scientific background, her love of chemistry and of things hot and explosive. Terri has a great sense of fun and loves the idea of being the ‘mad scientist’, playing around in the laboratory and making things go BOOM!!
“Glass holds me captivated by the way it melts, flows and develops beautiful colours. There is a lot of chemistry involved with the manufacture of glass in that colours are created through the addition of oxides and it is through the reactions between these oxides that the magic happens”.
Terri has great attention to detail which allows her to create intricate works. If anything defines Terri’s work it is ‘small’ and ‘fastidious’ ... her beads are generally referred to as ‘miniature masterpieces’ by her appreciative clientele.
